Luciano Cessari

Luciano Cessari is Associate Director of Research at ISPC-CNR and former member of the CNR Cultural Heritage Department’s Scientific Board. With a Ph.D. in Town Planning, his work focuses on the documentation and conservation of historical architecture using interdisciplinary methods. He has authored over 100 publications and led EU projects in the Mediterranean and Central Asia, including the preservation of Timurid monuments in Samarkand. He coordinated major initiatives like Aramis, Metafora, and Citadels on Islamic and fortified heritage. His recent research explores sustainable technologies for energy-efficient interventions in historic cities.
