Elena Gigliarelli

Elena Gigliarelli is a Senior Scientist at ISPC-CNR and leads the Built Heritage Innovation Lab (BHiLAB). With a background in architecture and monument restoration, her research focuses on integrating diagnostics with conservation and energy efficiency strategies for built heritage. She coordinates national and international projects, including the EU-funded BEEP project across 7 Mediterranean countries. She also contributes to the DARIAH-IT infrastructure and serves as a university lecturer and thesis supervisor. In 2009, she received the Europa Nostra Award for the restoration of St. Nicholas Church in Cyprus.

    This international workshop, funded by the DARIAH Working Group Activities 2023-2025 programme, was organised by the CNR Institute of Heritage Science with the Cyprus Institute and the University of Catania, supported by the Municipality of Poggioreale. It addressed digital methods for conserving and reusing tangible and intangible construction heritage, highlighting Heritage Building Information Modelling for data acquisition, interoperability, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
