
Alíz Horváth
Dr. Alíz Horváth is Assistant Professor of East Asian history and digital humanities at the East Asian Institute of Eötvös Loránd (ELTE) University. She received her PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago in 2019. Her research focuses on transnational flows within and beyond East Asia, particularly Japan, China, and Korea.
She co-guest edited a special issue on East Asian studies and digital humanities for the International Journal of Digital Humanities and is co-founder and chair of the DARIAH-EU Multilingual DH Working Group. She is also involved in OpenMethods and Reviews in DH and previously contributed to the NEH-funded project New Languages for NLP: Building Linguistic Diversity in the Digital Humanities.

It examines the extent to which language models can perform semantic interpretation and abstraction, how stereotypes may be represented in their outputs, and how the language used to describe AI influences our understanding of its capabilities.
